With 33 years of law enforcement experience, Sheriff Bergstrand began his career as a police officer with the City of Westford, Massachusetts.  From there he moved to California, working four and a half years as a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Los Angeles.

In 1979 he began working for the Plumas County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff and has worked a variety of assignments since that time.  After serving the citizens of Plumas County as Undersheriff for four years, Terry was elected to Sheriff in March of 2002.

Undersheriff  Michael Beatley has 27 years of law enforcement experience, 25 with the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.  Prior to his appointment as Undersheriff, Michael was the Administrative Sergeant for the department.  Prior duties included assignments as a patrol sergeant and a 17 year member of the SWAT team and Tactical Commander.  His current duties include overseeing the correctional facility, supervising the investigations division and all matters related to personnel.  As second in charge, Michael reports directly to the Sheriff.

Sergeant Todd Johns has 16 years of experience in law enforcement with the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. Prior to becoming the Administrative Sergeant, Todd worked as a sergeant in patrol, assigned to the Greenville Substation.  As a member of the SWAT team he is a team leader and excellent marksman.  Todd is also a range master.  Todd oversees the department's Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) patrol program. As Administrative Sergeant Todd's duties include  all aspects of personnel training, maintaining their POST requirements. He also conducts background investigations for employment as well as recruiting and testing for various positions within the department. Todd also manages the departments Field Training Program (FTO). He reports directly to the Undersheriff and does other duties as directed.
