The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team was formed in 1983.  The team consists of a Tactical Commander, and two six man teams, each with a Team Leader.  Supporting the SWAT team are two crisis negotiation members. The team responds to an average of six high risk calls a year, such as barricaded subject’s or high risk arrest situations .  

The team trains each month for a variety of different possible deployments in order to be best prepared to take whatever reasonable steps necessary to prevent harm to the community. 

 The service this team has provided to the citizens of Plumas County, is evidenced by the successful conclusion of the many calls for service they have safely handled during the past 20 years.
